The Obligatory Giving of Thanks
Put it off till the last minute, didn't I? I've had a full day, with having a couple of the singles over for lunch (pumpkin soup and corn muffins), making dessert to bring to my brother's for dinner (Pinwheels & Orange Peels' Chocolate Cups with Whipped Cream and some make-up-the-recipe-as-you-go cupcake-sized pumpkin pies with cream cheese), then the full family dinner and watching The Apprentice (comments to follow tomorrow).
I've also slipped in a couple of rounds of perusing the blogroll - it appears to be pretty much a given for American bloggers to post what they are thankful for on this Thanksgiving holiday. So, blog-lemming that I am, I will oblige.
- I am thankful for my wonderful husband, who makes me feel cherished. That's all I really need from him, but he does so much more.
- I am thankful for a family who loves me and supports me, and who also seems to like me - which isn't a given.
- I am thankful for close friends, even though most of them live far away from me.
- I am thankful for a church where I can feel at home, where I can learn and grow, and where I can be involved and minister.
- I am thankful for my home, for a good job that pays me well and a boss who trusts me to get my work done (even if I spend a bit too much time blogging).
- I am thankful for the two cutest kitties in the universe.
- I am thankful for discovering this world we call the blogosphere, and for the new relationships I am forming through this blog. And especially for you, my readers. You guys rock.
Elsewhere in the Thanksgiving blogosphere...
- Boudicca is thankful for our troops and all that they do to protect us
- Warren is thankful for faith - and for food
- Bryan shares a very visual prayer of thanks for his many blessings
- Marla expounds on why she is thankful (and should be!) for her husband
- Margi has some random Thanksgiving thoughts - with an invitation for readers to join in the randomness
- Ambra is thankful for many things - but apparently especially for bacon
- Mark shares a Thanksgiving Day prayer
- And Rick is very thankful for a new job, after a (blessedly rather short) season of unemployment... praise God!
Of course, I'm not the only one who decided to do the Thanksgiving Blogosphere Roundup - I am in good company, as Jim from Opinion TImes and Michelle Malkin also went that route... Speaking of the inestimable Ms. Malkin, check out her Thanksgiving column here - good one!
Hope your Thanksgiving was blessed - and for those of you who have a 4-day weekend, as we do, enjoy!
Oh, and in case you were wondering, the Chocolate Cups with Whipped Cream - yummmmmmm. Very rich - I made them with Bacardi Orange rum, and they were quite a treat.
