CoWorkerA has made it her mission this morning to try to convince me to join her and CoWorkerE at the company golf tournament in a couple-few weeks here. She's a pretty tenacious individual, I'll give her that - she's not taking "no" for an answer... but there are a few things one ought to know about me when trying to convince me to do anything, especially involving golf.
1) I don't golf. And when I say I don't golf, I mean it. I have been known to play miniature golf upon occasion, and those occasions have been known to involve threating to castrate other individuals with my putter. I'm bad at putting, and can only imagine how much worse I would be at a full game of golf that does not involve marking down "6" and moving to the next hole. I also have no interest in golf (my recent congratulatory post for Phil Mickelson's win notwithstanding).
2) When I am bad at something, it generally is not fun for me. The only exception to this rule is pool - I suck at pool too, but once in a while I make a really excellent shot out of the blue, and it almost makes me look like I know what I'm doing. As long as nobody tries (uninvited) to help me get better, I'm just as happy to suck at pool. But in general, when I am doing badly at something, it makes me crabby. It's not fun for me, and it's pretty much not fun for anyone around me either.
3) When people try to peer-pressure me into doing something, I dig in my heels. I do not bow to peer pressure. This is also not fun for anyone around me.
In any event, this golf tournament is on a day when I have class and can't go. Even if I could go, I wouldn't go. I don't golf. Period.
