I have many things running through my head at the moment, not really enough to rant about individually, so here is another of the type of post that I lost last week, this time I'll be smart enough to save the text file until it's actually published.
What's on my mind...
... Sarahk has a most amusing Mad Libs-style blog entry up - I contributed a few of those words, including "HEY! THAT'S MY TWINKIE", of which I was extremely proud...
... I made this super-good chocolate orange cake over the weekend. Three layers made with 2 boxes of devil's food cake mix, with chocolate orange candies (the wafers with the orange filling) embedded and baked into the layers... marmalade between the layers... and a glaze of melted semi-sweet chocolate, a bit of orange flavored rum, and powdered sugar. We had some friends over on Sunday and between the 5 of us, we ate less than 1/4 of it, so I brought it in to work today... it's going fast, and I've had nothing but compliments. (If you ever want to get rid of food, just bring it to a construction site. Whether it's good or not, it will go quickly.) Next experimental cake effort will be chocolate raspberry...
... After several weeks of fighting with the drain plug and a whole bottle of drain cleaner wasted, I finally was able to unscrew the drain plug and remove a giant hair clog from my bathtub. I'm sure you wanted to know that...
... Jerry Colangelo obviously doesn't read this weblog, since the day after this impassioned plea, he went ahead and fired Bob Brenly anyway. Do I dare make my feelings known about the possibility of trading away Randy Johnson? If we all knew that Brenly wasn't this team's problem, yet Colangelo decided to fire him anyway, I guess we can only assume that trading away the one consistent starter in our rotation and the team's genuine bonafide superstar isn't beyond his logic (or lack thereof). You know, I really used to respect Jerry Colangelo. But after this? How far behind can trading Gonzo or Finley be? How long until he addresses the team's real problems instead of firing or trading those who are not the problem? Time will tell...
... Comments. Comments would be nice. I like to know people are actually reading once in a while. Just say hello or something, please?
... I had thought of posting a long rant about John Kerry's completely hypocritical statement on his stand on abortion, but found that LaShawn, Pietro, Blogs for Bush, and Get Religion had pretty much covered all my points anyway. Jared has also weighed in on the issue, and I think he and I think alike in many ways on this. If you read nothing else, read Jared's post...
... Hubby-head owes us his review of our most recent Adventures in Phoenix Food - maybe with enough clamoring he will post it tonight. Clamor louder, folks, we can't hear you...
... Anyone else sick of the liberal media? (Duh.) I really hate the fact that the news reporting on the economy has so skewed people's thinking that a large percentage of the American population apparently thinks that George W. Bush is responsible for ruining the American economy. They seem to be unaware that the biggest negative impact to the economy during President Bush's tenure has been what the terrorists did to us on 9/11/01 (which, despite Michael Moore's insinuations, was not President Bush's fault). They also seem to be unaware that the economy is recovering. What also drives me nuts is how often we hear "Bush lied" thrown about in reference to the WMD's that were never found - and how often we are reminded that the WMD's were never found - but the fact that the UN now acknowledges that Iraq most likely sent their WMD's out of the country before we invaded is all but forgotten...
... After all my whining about not being a morning person, guess who has to be at work at 6:30 AM tomorrow for a meeting? Guess who is trying to refrain from curling up in the corner and weeping openly at the thought? (Guess who is exaggerating... but only slightly?)
And finally:
... It's Decemberween in July! Check it out!
Hey D!! Here is my comment.
I work with Denni as well as being a friend before I started working here over 3 years ago.... I am here to tell you all that Denni was not just bragging in vain about her cake....it really was GREAT and I can't wait until the raspberry version comes out :0)!! Yummy!
You are correct Denni, we didn't need to know about the hair in the drain!! However, we love you so thanks for sharing your frustrations.
I totally agree with your Jerry Colangelo review... keep posting maybe he will get a clue!!
Early morning is my time alone at work, please try not to schedule anymore meetings at 6:30AM!! Just kidding, but I do like my quiet mornings with no one around!!
Hi Jason!
