Like this is going to do any good. Trolls abound on the Internet... thankfully, I have been spared (probably thanks to Typepad) much in the way of comment spam, but after a couple of offensive comments today from an individual calling him/herself JD, I thought I'd put this out there "officially". Here is my official comment policy for News from the Great Beyond:
I am the owner of this weblog. I reserve the right to delete or edit any comments that I deem to use offensive language or a tone that is not conducive to civil discourse.
I do not delete comments solely because the commenter disagrees with what I have to say. If you have something you wish to chime in to add to the discussion, you are welcome to. I encourage intelligent, reasoned discussion on such issues as we occasionally bring up (when I'm not doing silly Internet quizzes or free-association). However, be reasonably polite in how you say it. Do not use foul language. Do not stoop to personal attacks against me or against other authors, commentors, or whichever presidential candidate is grating on your last nerve today.
If the comment is unrelated to the post at hand, and is offensive or obnoxious, it's probably going to get deleted. If I receive multiple such comments from the same IP address, that IP address is going to get banned. Consider yourself duly warned.
A link to this post will be added to my sidebar for future reference.

file this under "goes without saying." Is anyone questioning your right to delete comments? If there were any remote room for questioning such things, readers of my blog would do nothing but visit viagra sites.
