... as you might expect, given my history these last few years! Let's jump right in, shall we?
December 1: Your mission, should you choose to accept it... Listen to this acappella rendition of We Three Kings and tell me, does this not remind you of the Mission Impossible theme at the beginning? Srsly cool, Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer to kick off December 2011!
December 2: It's true! I couldn't find a live performance or even a good fan video for this one... but after hearing it on my Pandora holiday station a few times, it's stuck with me enough to make it Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer for today.
December 3: I've said it before, and I'll say it again... It's just not Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer without a couple of songs by Celtic Woman - and here's the first for this year. Gorgeous.
December 4: Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer for this chilly Sunday is a song that has good memories for me. This one's dedicated to Rachel - miss singing with you sis! :)
December 5: Happy Monday all! It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas 'round here - winter weather advisory was in effect for Phoenix this morning, with snow in the foothills and higher elevation spots... Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer is just right for my mood today!
December 6: Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer for December 6th is just all kinds of fun - just watch! :D
December 7: Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer for December 7th - lovely and worshipful... Not your bag? Quite all right, there's always something different 'round the next corner.
December 8: Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday cheer is swingin'! Harry Connick, Jr. is cooler than winter, y'all...
December 9: Happy Friday all! Time to switch it up a bit... If you've followed Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer for the last 3 years, you've seen this song done by Josh Groban, Celtic Woman, and N' Sync - now for something completely different!
December 10: Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer today brings back memories of Murphysboro High School and Madrigal... although as I recall it we learned the words a bit differently. Nonetheless - enjoy, and have a great Saturday (which is a 10 hour work day for me, alas)!
December 11: My closest friends will probably remember how I used to be known for the "whiplash subject change"... this Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer would be a "whiplash style change" from yesterday's offering. :)
December 12: Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer for this chilly Monday is dedicated to all you Gleeks out there! Thirteen days and counting!
December 13: Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer today: a sweet little reminder from Pomplamoose to take time out from the busy-ness of the season to spend time with the people who are most important to us. Awww. :)
December 14: Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer for today is just a bit strange, and pretty darn cool. This is my all time favorite Christmas carol, and I'm pretty picky with the versions I post. Not quite traditional, but it suits me :)
December 15: I have one word for Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer today: Gorgeous.
December 16: I'm dreaming of a white Christmas... but alas, I'm not going to get it! It'll be a touch too warm out in Southern Illinois for the white stuff - and not a lot of chance of precipitation. Will you be expecting snow where you are? Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer for today is a lovely thought, if not quite likely.
December 17: Never let it be said that Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer doesn't cater to every taste... if yesterday's offering was just too sedate and sappy for your taste, give this one a listen. /headbanging
December 18: It's that time again - traveling day! Now an annual Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer tradition, here's this year's rendition of "I'll Be Home for Christmas". See you in 13 hours, Southern Illinois!
December 19: Happy Monday, Facebook friends and family... it's getting close now - ready for Christmas yet? If not, perhaps Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer will give you a little boost. It's not the classic version of the carol, but by now you should expect that from me at least every other day, right? :)
December 20: A couple of years ago I tried to find this song to share for Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer, and the best I could do was someone's recorded Rock Band expert performance. Finally, the original song I was looking for. Happy Hanukkah to my Jewish friends!
December 21: Oh, the harmonies! Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer for today just gave me chills!
December 22: Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer today is thoughtful and haunting... Amy Grant's recording is well known, but I love Sara Groves' voice, so here you have it. :)
December 23: As I say so often with Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer, "and now for something completely different!" I discovered Jane Monheit through Pandora a few months ago while going through a bit of a jazz kick, and had a great time finding some of her Christmas music on YouTube - this one is just a lot of fun!
December 24: And we're down to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day... Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer for today is a lovely instrumental from a very talented family. Our family is doing our annual Christmas dinner today since I'll be flying home tomorrow evening (alas!). The gathering is smaller than usual (we miss you Don) but there's nowhere I'd rather be. Hope your day's as full of love and peace as ours here!
December 25: Your final Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer for 2011 is dedicated to all those who are having a difficult time at the holidays... Sending you lots of love and wishes for a merry Christmas - and many more.
And there we have it... 2011's selections for Your Daily Dose of YouTube Holiday Cheer. I'm always on the lookout for good original Christmas songs or unusual renditions of classics, so feel free to e-mail or Facebook message me with any suggestions you may have!
